the details.
When J R McKenzie Trust moved premises, their legacy needed to move with them. What was once an exhibition space dedicated to the story of the J R McKenzie family was now a boutique Board Room.
Their rich library of artifacts, wall hangings, newspaper clippings, family scrapbooks, awards, and a century of memorabilia required a more compact spatial storytelling solution. One that continued to inspire employees, visitors, collaborators, senior leaders, and partners alike.
Through a series of creative workshops, the team’s aspirations were facilitated, explored and better understood, with a content architecture framework and design methodology established. The sheer magnitude of their impact required a curation process that honoured their kaupapa and left no stone unturned. What must be retained to acknowledge the past while inspiring future leaders with their aspirations for tomorrow?
The final design solution emphasized how their people conduct their mahi, with the Trust’s values front and centre within the installation.
The remaining four walls were utilised to honour the family, their impact, their timeline of charitable outcomes, and their vision for the future.
An installation partner was engaged via the TALK collective, with ‘second-to-none’ experience in applying immersive storytelling exhibitions.
